About …

Hello, I'm Lauren Perry - an aspiring children’s author and lover of picture books. I'm also a campervaning, guitar playing, sing-songing, fun-loving type of person too.

Some of my favourite picture book authors include; Emily Gravett, Michelle Robinson, Karl Newson, Caryl Hart, Jeanne Willis, and Patricia Cleveland-Peck. I could go on! I just LOVE picture books with that magic combination of humour and heart!

Speaking of heart…

I’m thrilled to be mentored by award winning children’s author, Caryl Hart. With her expert guidance I am polishing up my current manuscript for submission. The transformation is so exciting!

I live with my husband and our young son in a little cottage on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. When we’re not indoors we love having fun in the great outdoors and call ourselves ‘The brave explorers’.  We can often be found travelling the country in our camper van: climbing trees, riding our bikes, building castles on beaches, and hurdling waves!

As well as being a ‘brave explorer’, I'm an English teacher and a former recruiter within the primary education sector. I have also worked as an OFSTED registered childcare provider for pre-schoolers and primary aged children.  I have SO MUCH FUN with this age group, it has definitely inspired me to write for them.

My work and motherhood has given me lots of wonderful opportunities to encourage children to have fun with language.

It's now my dream to share some stories of my own!
