It starts with a Dream…

I’m keeping a little blog. Starting with the completion of my first manuscript through to… well, who knows!

A bit of back story:

I’ve always enjoyed writing. As a young child I wrote personalised rhyming verses for family birthday cards. Later, I created personalised poems, framing them as gifts for special occasions. I’ve even been known to deliver the odd rhyming speech at birthday parties and hen dos!

I studied a BA Hons in English Language and Literature and taught English in secondary schools. Later, I became a recruiter for primary schools - but I continued writing for pleasure in my spare time.

As a full time mum between 2020 and 2024 I had time to enjoy lots of wonderful picture books with my son. I found myself coming up with a few ideas of my own; ideas that I thought were funny and had heart.

I’m finally turning my ideas into manuscripts!

The first is a Christian themed story about a gardener and his orchard of fruit trees.

Little Apple tree is worried. Why are things changing? His beautiful apples have fallen off. And now he is losing his leaves too! He feels powerless and scared. Winter is here and the gardener wants to prune him! But that sounds like more loss. More ‘taking away’. Can little Apple tree overcome his fears and accept help? If he can, he has the potential to grow in the most wonderful way imaginable!
